It’s a bird, it’s a plane - no it’s Gordon Brown!
Wednesday, June 11th, 2008• Following on from former British PM Tony Blair’s appearance on The Simpsons, his successor, Gordon Brown, has also leapt into the animated world with an appearance in Marvel’s comic, Captain Britain and MI13. The PM, working alongside the fictional intelligence agency MI13, is apparently involved in defeating aliens intent on invading known as Skrulls.
• A recent survey in Victoria found that a visible police presence does more to deter would be speeders than simply having cameras. Well, police in Vancouver, Canada, have come up with a way of having a visible police presence without working officers any harder. They’re using eight life-size cardboard replicas of traffic cops pointing a radar gun at passing cars. The cardboard figures are apparently so realistic that during testing a truck driver pulled up and started talking to one.
• Meanwhile on other matters of law and order, a donkey has been jailed in Mexico after biting and kicking two men. A police officer was quoted as saying that the donkey would remain in jail until the animal’s owner paid for men’s medical bills.
