Forgiveness

I came across this prayer recently: “Lord help me forgive those who sin differently than I.”

I could ponder that all day!

It’s easy to forgive people who suffer the same sins and temptations as I do. I mean, those sins are real, and difficult. I know what that’s like – I can empathise! How can anyone overcome?

It’s a lot harder to forgive sins for which I find no temptation. Why would anyone do that? You must be really sick to do that! What’s wrong with these people?

Not RSVPing for a party – what’s wrong with such people? They should be thrown in jail! Don’t get me started on apostrophes!

Jesus said to pray like this – “Forgive me my sins, as I forgive those who sin against me”.

Ouch. Lord, help me forgive those who sin differently than I.
