DAVID ADAMS downloads a verse of the day app with a difference, and an easy way to engage in prayer for the persecuted…
Four Letter Words
Taking a different approach to daily Bible reading, Four Letter Words features a different four letter word each day – ‘love’, ‘hope’, and so on – and then connects it with a Bible verse focused on the theme. Free to download, its features are limited but among them is a “favorite” function in which you can save those that you’d like to come back to (although you can manually scroll through back the days anyway). There’s also the ability to schedule when the new daily word rolls in. For iOS.
VOM Pray Today
This app from persecuted church advocacy and support organisation Voice of the Martyrs is ideal for people looking to take seriously the mandate to pray for Christians suffering for their faith around the world. There’s a different country in focus each day – along with a specific prayer request – and built-in accountability – you’re encouraged to press the ‘I Prayed’ button once you’ve done so (and you can set a daily reminder to help you to remember to do so). Of course, as you might expect there’s also access to plenty of background information on where and how persecution is taking place with stories from the frontlines of persecution, in written, audio and video formats. Free to download, the app is available for both Apple and Android devices.
