Face up…or fear

When I played soccer the coach told us that when it came to heading the ball, if we hit the ball, rather than letting the ball hit us, it would hurt a lot less. The coach was right, although I couldn’t work out why.

Research I recently found around brain chemistry shows that when we face a challenge, if we fear the challenge, if we hide from it, or let it ‘hit’ us – our brain is filled with negative chemicals that have a bad impact on us, making us feel not so good.

If we face the challenge, see it as something to overcome and tame, our brain is filled with empowering chemicals that strengthen us and cause a positive impact.

Amazingly, the same issue, faced or feared – has a totally different outcome on us.

One is empowering, the other is cowering! Face your problems.
