Imagine if when we looked at people, we saw who they could be if we loved them.

Not in a romantic way, just the potential if we gave them some time. Treated them with respect and invested something of us into who they could be. Not in some paternalistic, condescending way. Just as someone with nothing else to give but love.
What a profound way to approach the world. Not transactional. Not selfishly. Not waiting for the other to be worthy. How could my love transform their today?
Isn’t this how God loves us? Jesus sees who we could be with His love; Forgiven, whole, restored, content – and He can’t wait to love us.
He doesn’t love because we are worthy or winners, but because He is love.
What if we lived this way? How would my love lift them?

Thank you Paul. This is an encouraging reflection on the good news. I am going to put this on my desk to help me to remember to support the students I teach in this way.
