I had a friend ask me, “Why would you trust yourself to God? To an invisible spirit?” Seems like a dumb decision.

My friend likes a drink so I asked him, “Why would you trust yourself to alcohol?”
Alcohol contributes to so much that is bad in our society: drink driving, domestic violence, street fighting, disease, death.
It is so destructive, governments put taxes on it to reduce drinking and pay for some of the damage.
Meanwhile, governments give churches tax breaks because they benefit society is so many ways.
Alcohol has few redeeming characteristics, yet we mysteriously trust our lives to this soulless chemical.
It seems to me trusting my life to a personal Spirit that brings blessings not damage is a much smarter decision.
Which spirit will you trust?
