Donald Trump looks set to deliver a stunning upset victory in the US presidential election.
As of 1.47am local (US) time, The New York Times has the Republican candidate with 264 electoral votes and Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton with 215. A total of 270 is required to win.
Mr Trump has won the key battleground states of Ohio, Florida and North Carolina as well as Pennsylvania, according to the paper.
The Republican’s strong showing has caused turmoil in financial markets around the world.
In Australia, the ABC’s election analyst Antong Green has predicted a Trump victory.
Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said she is prepared to work with Mr Trump, conceding that it appears he is most likely to claim the presidency.
“As I have said for many months now, the Australian Government is ready and prepared to work with whomever the American people, in their wisdom, choose to be their president,” she said.
