“I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.” – Isaiah 43:25
I recently had to deal with someone in my life who had a newspaper article written about them.
Normally, if the article was promoting their great abilities or writing something nice about them, it would be something they would happily share on social media, show their loved ones and generally bask in the light shone on them.
“To know that all the nasty actions, thoughts and words we did in the past aren’t going to come back and bite us, but instead, are totally forgiven and forgotten by our Creator, is an incredibly relieving feeling.”
This was not one of those articles.
This person had made a number of mistakes in their past, so much so, they had had to change their name to protect their family.
Unfortunately, they are in an industry that includes promotion and despite setting up a small, steady business, they have fallen victim to some unhappy clients.
The clients took their story, not only to their lawyer, but also to the media.
As is the habit with sensationalism, the journalist dug a little deeper and found a ‘treasure trove’ of past indiscretions, which were published in a life-shattering news article.
It had me thinking about how I would feel if some journalist decided to dig into my past and publish all my indiscretions.
It also made me so very thankful for the forgiveness that Jesus offers, when we are willing to hand those indiscretions, better known in the Christian world as sins, to Him.

To know that all the nasty actions, thoughts and words we did in the past aren’t going to come back and bite us, but instead, are totally forgiven and forgotten by our Creator, is an incredibly relieving feeling.
It is freeing to know that despite what we’ve done wrong, God looks at us as blameless and loved.
The price for that forgiveness was paid for by Jesus, and I know I could not be more thankful.
